Clinic Check

Thinking about dental work, a hair transplant or cosmetic surgery abroad? Before you pay a deposit, we check the clinic and the people treating you against the official registers and the paper trail, and tell you in plain English what checks out, what doesn't, and what to ask before you pay. £149. Paid for by you, never by a clinic.

Why check first

Residents of Great Britain made around 523,000 visits abroad for medical treatment in 2024, according to ONS estimates. The official advice to them is blunt. The Foreign Office's health page for Turkey says:

"We are aware of 7 British nationals having died in Turkey in 2025 following medical procedures."

"...private companies have a financial interest in booking your treatment..."

Source: gov.uk, Turkey travel advice, health, page updated 27 October 2026, checked 4 November 2026.

The same page tells patients to talk to their UK doctor or dentist first and to do their own research. It points to the Turkish Ministry of Health's list of approved providers, and says the Foreign Office doesn't endorse any practitioner or facility. Checking is the job we do, for any destination with public registers. A clinic's own website, its coordinator and the agency booking you in can't give you an independent view, because they're paid when you book. We're paid by you, so the only thing we've got to sell you is what the paperwork actually shows.

What we check

The clinic's licence

Whether it's licensed, and authorised to treat overseas patients where the country requires that, checked against the official record where it can be searched.

Every badge they show

Each accreditation or award on their site or certificate, checked with the body that issued it, where that body publishes a list.

The people treating you

Whether the surgeon, dentist or doctor named in your quote is registered and licensed to do what you're booking. Registration and licence status only, nothing about their private life.

Who you're really dealing with

The company behind the clinic, who owns it and how long it's existed, and whether the coordinator you're talking to works for the clinic or for an agency.

The public record

What official sources, regulators, courts and the press have published about complaints and complications linked to the clinic or its practitioners, where it can be searched.

Your paperwork, line by line

Your quote, treatment plan, deposit, cancellation, aftercare and revision terms, with the gaps and the unusual clauses flagged, and what to get in writing before you pay.

You also get the official UK advice for the destination, quoted and dated, and the exact questions to put to the clinic, with what a good answer looks like.

What the check is, and what it isn't

What you get

  • An independent, documentary check of the clinic, the people and your paperwork, against public registers and the bodies that issue accreditations.
  • Sourced. Every finding says where we checked and on what date.
  • Graded plainly as verified, not verified, not found or a red flag, with the evidence for each.
  • Honest about its limits. If a register can't be searched, the report says so.

What it isn't

  • Medical, dental or clinical advice. We don't say whether a treatment is right for you, or judge your treatment plan's medical merits. Talk to a UK doctor or dentist about that.
  • Legal advice. We flag gaps and unusual terms in your paperwork, but we don't advise on your legal rights against the clinic.
  • A recommendation to go, or not to go, or a "safe" or "unsafe" verdict.
  • A booking, travel, translation or negotiation service.
  • A guarantee of any outcome. Registers can be out of date, and "not found" means we didn't find it where we looked, not that it doesn't exist.

Independent, and we mean it

We take no payment, commission, referral fee, listing fee, gift or hospitality from any clinic, hospital, practitioner, agency or facilitator, and we hold no financial interest in any of them. We don't recommend clinics or introduce you to one, and no clinic sees your report. If that ever changed, we'd say so on this page before you bought.

How it works

  1. Email us at ben@reliness.co.uk with the subject "Clinic Check". Tell us the clinic's name, city and country, the procedure, and the name of the surgeon, dentist or doctor you've been given.
  2. We confirm we can check it and send an invoice for £149. If the official registers for your clinic's country can't be searched publicly, we tell you before you pay anything.
  3. You pay the invoice and send what the clinic has sent you, meaning the quote or treatment plan, the booking terms or contract, the messages about deposit, cancellation and aftercare, and any certificates or badges they've shown you. Screenshots are fine. Work starts once payment is in.
  4. Your written report arrives by email within two working days of us having everything, and one round of follow-up questions by email is included.
£149one clinic, one procedure, written report in two working days

Paid in full by invoice before work starts. Reliness Ltd isn't VAT registered, so there's no VAT on top.

Your information

We don't need, and don't want, your medical records or photos of you. Only what the clinic has sent you. Those documents can still show health information, so we ask for your explicit consent before we use it, we use it only to prepare your report, we don't share it with anyone, and we delete it 12 months after delivery, or sooner if you ask. The details are in our privacy notice.

You have 14 days to cancel. We only start inside those 14 days if you ask us to in writing. If you do, and then cancel before the report's delivered, you pay only for the work done up to then. Once the report's delivered, the right to cancel ends. If a finding is wrong because of our error, tell us and we'll correct and reissue it free. Your legal rights aren't affected. The full terms are in our Clinic Check terms.
